Updated February 1, 2017 - On Red Lobster’s menu, you will find an amazing selection of foods and beverages. Red Lobster menu prices are reasonable and affordable, although priced slightly higher than other casual dining restaurants. Red Lobster is a casual American restaurant chain that primarily serves seafood. The dining establishment that had small beginnings as a single restaurant in Lakeland, Florida now offers sea fare in over 700 locations across the globe, including Japan, the Middle East, Mexico, and South America.
The first Red Lobster restaurant, then called “Harbor for Seafood Lovers,” opened in March of 1968 by Bill Darden and Charley Woodsby. With a special emphasis on fresh, quality foods, the pair were passionate about making seafood affordable and accessible to everyone. The next couple of years Darden and Woodsby worked to open several more restaurants throughout the southeast.
The chain began to boom and expand to location throughout the nation in the early 1980’s due to General Mill’s acquisition, and by 1983, Red Lobster had made its way into Canada. With great annual specials and events, like Lobsterfest, which occurs every February and boast inexpensive lobster-centric dishes, Red Lobster picked up even more steam, making restaurant chain more popular than ever.

Specials, Deals, and Promotions
Red Lobster provides a host of different promotions throughout the year. Lobsterfest being the first yearly promotion, offering many different lobster menu items for inexpensive prices. Red Lobster mixes up these special menu items each year, providing customers with different ways to try lobster: from lobster macaroni and cheese, to seafood stuffed lobster. Lobsterfest is scheduled for every February.
Another big hit is the Create Your Own Seafood Trio Event, which allows you to choose three different seafood menu items like Baked Lobster Alfredo or Hand-Breaded Shrimp for only $15.99. The offer comes with a salad and unlimited Cheddar Bay Biscuits, Red Lobster’s signature appetizer.
Like Lobsterfest, Red Lobster also has a Crabfest, a celebration in all things crab. Crabfest brings all kinds of brand new crab entrees, but the star of the promotion is crab legs. Red Lobster provides three crab leg selections including North American snow crab, king crab or Alaska Bairdi crab.
One of the most popular promotions that Red Lobster puts on is their Endless Shrimp event. For only $16.99, you can get as many shrimp entrees as you can eat. From Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp, to Shrimp Linguini Alfredo, the options truly are endless. And, of course, just like most other promotions, the offer comes with a salad and unlimited Cheddar Bay Biscuits.
Red Lobster now offers the Fresh Catch Club, which provides members with special savings and coupons, invitations to events and promotions, a birthday surprise each year, as well as a free appetizer or dessert just for signing up. These promotions are delivered via e-mail and through the mail.
While most people go to Red Lobster for dinner, the restaurant offers a fantastic selection of great food for lunch available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are even inexpensive lunch specials, like the Wood-Grilled Cheeseburger, a half-pound burger on a brioche bun, the Classic Caesar Salad with Chicken, and Wood-Grilled Chicken Tacos.
There are, of course, seafood specials as well. Bourbon-Brown Sugar Grilled Shrimp served with rice, and Grilled Shrimp Salad and Cup of Soup. And they have plenty of soup options. Manhattan Clam Chowder, Lobster Bisque, and Seafood Gumbo are just a few of their offerings.
Hours and Locations
Red Lobster can be found all over the United States with 26 in Florida alone. The restaurant is open every day starting at 11 a.m. for lunch. On Monday through Thursday, they close at 10 p.m., while on Friday and Saturday the stay open until 11 p.m. Sundays they close early at 9 p.m.
